If, in spite of all conflicts, sufferings, weakness, sins, we open our door, the Spirit is poured out within us, the first mark of its presence is not an increase of energy, but joy and peace.
...Real love always heals fear and neutralizes egotism, and so, as love grows up in us, we shall worry about ourselves less and admire and delight in God and God's other children more and more--and this is the secret of joy.
From this, signs of the Spirit in our lives:
Less fear, more trust
Less worry, more peace
Less focus on our concerns, more delight in those around us
Less worry about others, more trust that God holds all in God's hands
Less attention to our conflicts, sufferings, etc, more attention to what brings joy
A query: when do you find yourself less bound to your own ego and to fear? who are you with or what are you doing/being?

what happens to the scale
as I cross the threshold into a new decade of life--the 40s--I am grateful for the ways that the scales have stopped working.
the body comparison scale is definitely rusty
the "what-do-they-think" scale has the screws loose
the achievement scale has a new balance system called grace
